Happy new year

Another belated post, but happy new year! We had a busy holiday season visiting the East Coast. Jake was a champ on the flight to Boston, drive to Philadelphia (10 horrific hours thanks to traffic), and flight to San Francisco. We managed to just make it into Boston before a nor'easter hit and make it out of Philadelphia a few days after the pants bomber in Detroit. Despite the weather and terrorists, our least favorite part of the holidays - traveling - wasn't too too bad. We got to spend some time in the snow in Massachusetts and met Annalouise and Elizabeth, Jake's twin cousins, in Philadelphia. All and all a good, but long, two weeks spent away from our cozy little house in California. We made it back just in time to worry through a bout of small earthquakes, a series of major rain storms, and Jake's first ear infections.

Jake is talking more and more - his newest thing is "Hello." I'm not sure where he picked it up but everything is "Hello, ___." In the morning it's "Hello... Mummy." When Dave gets home it's "Hello, Dada." Bathtime = "Hello, wawa [water]." Wiggles are in, Dora's out. Watermelon's in, avocados are out. Walking is in, stroller is out. Oh, the vacuum is in (he calls it a "kataka" and we can't figure out why) and his pink doll stroller is out. Bottle is, unfortunately, still very much in. He's still growing way to fast for me, but looking forward to all the smiles and laughs he'll bring this year.
