'Mummy's' visit

It only took 6 years to get Heather out here, but it was so worth it! What a great weekend. Jake must've really enjoyed it, ever since Heath left he asks, "Where mummy?" I've gotten him to say "Heather" now, but he still refers to her as "Mummy." They do look related, don't they?

Mow-mow

I was stalling to go to work this morning to try and get word on
"Duece Perusse" (it's a girl!!!) and Jake kept himself entertained by
watching the gardeners mow...he was mesmerized. Lawn mowers, edgers,
leaf blowers, and hedge trimmers - it doesn't get much better! (Note
the yellow taxi cab - I brought it back from NYC and it was a hit!)

22 months

Jake, you are just two months away from being a big two-year-old, and that's just too hard to believe (although sometimes the "no!'s" and hitting mommy remind me). ;) You are the funniest, smartest, sweetest thing that has ever existed in the entire world.

Your favorite things/things that give me a heart attack:

- swimming lessons: you rock! You jump off the side of the pool by yourself and swim underwater holding your breath upwards of 10 seconds. It scares me, but your oh-so-serious swim instructor, Michelle, assures me this is "good for you." (yeah right, but you seem to love it so ok.)
- the "big kid" play structure at the park: The "little kid" area just doesn't do it for you anymore. You need to be on the big one, complete with lots of high slides, wiggly bridges, and lots of crevices for you to climb over. I see it as just a big accident-waiting-to-happen, but so far you've done fine (and Mommy has slipped and fallen off the slide and hit her head trying to "save" you).
- moving: Just, in general, you really don't stay still. And whether you're on your bike or your feet, you just go fast. Too fast. I know I'm on the slow side, but it's frustrating when I can't keep up with you). The neighbors get a kick out of seeing you take off down the street... but I think the fun part is seeing me taking off and trying to catch you.
- not sleeping: We're still holding out for sleeping to become one of your favorite things, little man, but no luck so far. Case in point, the two of us were watching the "Wonder Pets" and playing with your matchbox cars at 4 this morning.

You are talking more, laughing constantly, and making me & dad constantly smile.

"Helping"

While I got Jake's bath ready, he decided to "help" by emptying his
dresser drawers. Unfortunately you can't experience the best part - he
was dramatically snapping each shirt in the air and "folding" it, like
I do when I take clothes out of the dryer.

Lunch break

Someone told me my recent job switch was career suicide. Probably
true, but being able to do this with Jake in the middle of the day
makes it worth it.
