Half Moon Bay

We took advantage of the nice weather this weekend and headed out to Half Moon Bay. We learned important lessons about our little angel:
1. Restaurants are out of the question for the foreseeable future. (Yeah, we were "those" people with the screaming kid who did not want to sit because he wanted to see the "big, big water.")
2. Somewhere along the line Jake decided he does not like sand on his feet. Or hands. That makes visits to the beach tricky, but he got along just fine, splashing in the water with his socks and shoes on.
3. I passed on my intense motion sickness to my son. :( We now know if he says "poop" and coughs, he's going to lose it.
4. Getting the smell of vomit out of a car seat cover is next to impossible.

Visit from grammie

Grammie made the long trip out over April vacation to visit Jake. He couldn't have had a better time - from reading books, to going for walks, to dancing in front of 'The Wiggles' - it was a non-stop party from the time she arrived until she left. Lots of good memories, but I had a hard time the morning after she left and Jake woke up and was devestated. He's still asking "Where Gammie go?"

My little hoarder

I decided it was time to move Jake's exersaucer out of the house since
he outgrew it, oh, over a year ago. He caught me on the way to the
garage and yelled, "No mummy, no!". So I put it down in the kitchen
and he climbed in and happily played all squished in it for at least
30 minutes. I can't have another pack rat in our little house!

Hi. I'm 23 months old.

Only one more month left with a one-year-old in the house.

Fresh from a nap

Is there anything sweeter than this "I've just woken up" face? Jake
gave Dave and me a nice little break this afternoon by taking a nice,
long nap. In true Diane and Dave fashion, we ignored our endless to-do
list, our taxes (yikes, it's almost the 15th, huh?), the work we both
need to catch up on (Dave because he's swamped, me because I took off
early on Friday to take Jake to the zoo), and ate popcorn, drank
sangria, and finally watched "Julie & Julia" - awesome rainy Sunday
afternoon.

Happy Easter

So about three months ago I broke down and bought Jake the most precious Petit Ami jon-jon. It's a pale blue romper with a white collared shirt... it's to die for and the only justification I had for buying it was a. it was perfect for Easter and b. it's ok to dress your boy very girly until he's 2, so 22 months is fair game. It's been hanging in his closet, with a matching white cardigan and while most people counted down to April 4 to celebrate the resurrection of christ, I just couldn't wait to dress Jake in his outfit. Well today it barely hit 50 degrees, rained, and hailed. I've got two months to find somewhere to wear that jon-jon, but either way Jake had a great Easter even if he did have to wear corduroys and a sweater. You can tell from this picture what a fabulous Easter it was, right?

Happy Hallow

Today we spent the day at the new zoo in San Jose, Happy Hallow. It's beautiful! Aimed at littler ones, it has animals, a petting zoo, rides, and lots of play structures. It's been around since Dave was a kid, but just re-opened after about a 4-year renovation. Dave's sister got us a membership for Christmas so we tried it out this morning. I'm definitely not meant for the urban setting of San Jose and still feel a bit overwhelmed living among 1 million people, but it's things like having a zoo and a children's museum within 2 miles of our house that I'm very thankful for. Not to mention a Starbucks within walking distance!

Here are some pictures from our morning at Happy Hallow:
