Making friends

With all that's been going on with Will, Dave and I kind of forgot about our taxes. I took the kids for a few hours so he could do them. ("kids" sounds so weird!)

We walked down to the playground. There was a little girl playing on the play structure. Jake stared at her and she stared back. I told Jake to say hi, and for once my little guy listened to me and did! I thought he'd forever be the poster child for parallel play but they immediately began to interact, and played together so well for an hour. Jake referred to her as "my breast friend" and whenever she'd wander away he'd yell at her "where are you going my breast friend!?" or "Wait for me my breast friend!" Besides the possessive/stalkerish aspect of my son, it was the sweetest thing to watch and all the adults were cracking up. They also cracked up when Jake and his breast friend approached a dog playing fetch with its owner and I yelled (rather loudly so I'd look all responsible) "Dogs don't like to be bothered when they're playing with their balls!" Nice one, Diane.
