Bye, San Jose

We sold our house! I know! It was fast! We actually ended up accepting an offer that came in before the house was on the market, so site unseen by the buyer. It happened so fast that we realized we have no idea where to go or what to do! Haha </manic laugh>. Yay real estate! As stressful as it is, I can't help looking at Jake's bed... the spot where he's slept his entire life. And I get a little choked up, but then someone always snaps me back to reality, like my coworker who commented "good thing you're moving, Jake would have started to get the shit kicked out of him for having a room that looked line that."

Moving on up (as in direction, not size)

After months of number crunching, we just signed a contract to list our house. It'll go on the market in 4 short weeks. Who knows what'll happen - we're listing it high to avoid a short sale, but come as close to breaking even as possible. I should be feeling stressed and... more stressed, but I'm feeling kind of sad. Our commutes are hell but the feeling of coming home every night to our neighbors, our park, our walk around the block, our adopted ferral cat, and even our tiny little home is going to be impossible to replace.

Picking my battles

Will's obsession with choosing his own shoes and socks (or in this case, sock) continues. And I have no fight left in me, so when he chooses two right shoes (one a size too small, one two sizes too big) I just throw my hands up. I honestly kind of went from annoyed to impressed after he spent the *entire* day in these shoes, even mastering the playground ladders and bouncy bridges in them.

Brothers

Just a tractor ride followed by a good 20 minutes of watching ants. A typical day with toddler boys.

Tiny dancers

They get their awesome moves from me.

Play ball!

Jake had his first t-ball practice on Saturday. This will be his first real team sport and I'm totally excited for him. Plus, four year olds in baseball uniforms, I mean, what could be cuter? Maybe Will with a batting helmet on, but that's it.

Angel Island

We spent a beautiful day at Angel Island today. It's right in the bay -- a quick ferry trip from SF, but I'd never been. It was so pretty and a day in the fresh air tuckered out my little angels. (Actually, they were both so tired by the time we got home that they were complete hellions, but for the sake of capturing memories I won't detail that.)

And Happy New Year!

Huge bonus (for kids and tired parents) if you're on the West Coast - the new year hits at 9:00!

Special thanks to Kath who sent me my favorite sparkling Pinot noir.

Merry Christmas

Christmas is my favorite time of year and this year was such a blast because Jake was anticipating Santa, Will had an unbelievable fascination with and appreciation of Christmas lights, and the threat of "Santa's watching!!" yelled over and over...and over... really kept everyone on their best behavior. On Christmas day, Jake got up at 2, I didn't realize it was 2 until he had already gotten into his gifts, I demanded he go back to bed, he cried, that woke Will up, (I think I was crying at this point), I tried to get them both back down, that failed, so we all had a very long, but wonderful day. And Dave had a lot to do with it - his gift to me was my favorite, extra-strong coffee.
